Why Our Bras Fit Small Busts Better

Many women with small busts know the problem: the band fits, but the cups gape. Underwires sit in the wrong place, or the bra simply feels as though it was not designed for their body. In many cases, the issue is not the size itself, but the way the bra was designed.

At Leilani Lingerie, we create our styles exclusively for small busts in AAA and AA cup sizes. Instead of scaling down standard bra patterns, our designs are developed from the beginning around the unique proportions of smaller cups. The result is lingerie that follows the natural shape of the body and stays comfortably in place.

Shallower cups for a natural fit

Small busts usually require less cup depth than fuller busts. Many conventional bras, however, are designed with deeper cups, which can create empty space between the breast and the cup.

Our styles are developed for the naturally flatter shape of smaller busts. The cups sit closer to the body and help reduce the gaping often experienced with standard bras.

Not simply scaled-down standard bras

Most lingerie brands develop their bras in an average size and then scale the pattern up or down for other sizes. While this approach works reasonably well in many cases, it becomes less effective for very small cup sizes.

Small busts have different proportions from fuller busts. That is why Leilani bras are designed specifically for AAA and AA cups rather than adapted from larger sizes.

Lightweight materials instead of rigid moulded cups

Small busts rarely need thick foam cups or heavy padding. That is why we use lightweight padding, flexible materials and modern spacer inserts.

These materials adapt to the natural shape of the body, help balance small asymmetries and create a smooth silhouette without looking artificial.

Thoughtfully designed underwires

The shape of an underwire plays an important role in both comfort and fit. Underwires that are too narrow can press into breast tissue and feel uncomfortable. A common misconception is that small busts automatically have a narrower breast base. In reality, breasts are usually not closer together than on fuller busts – they simply have less volume.

Many standard bras reduce not only the cup volume but also the width of the cups and underwires. This can result in poor fit and unnecessary pressure.

For our underwired styles, we focus on shapes that comfortably follow the natural outline of the breast, providing support without digging in.

Design details that adapt naturally

Many of our styles are designed so that fabric or lace flows naturally towards the straps instead of ending in a firm cup edge. This allows the bra to adapt more easily to the neckline and the upper part of the bust. The edges lie smoothly against the skin and remain discreet under clothing.

The result is a natural-looking fit without gaping or visible cup edges.

Developed with and for small busts

Every new style is inspired by our experience with small busts, conversations with our customers and extensive fit testing.

Patterns, materials and details are refined until comfort, fit and appearance work together in harmony.

A bra for a small bust should not try to change the body. It should support its natural shape and feel as though it was designed specifically for it.
