Bra Size Guide

How to find your bra size

Finding the right bra size is not always easy. The measured size is a good starting point, but what really matters is how a bra fits and how it feels when worn.
On this page we explain how you can determine your bra size and what to look for when checking the fit.
If you are unsure, we are happy to help. You can contact us by email at kundenservice@leilani-lingerie.ch or by phone at +41 (0)56 536 83 33. Personal consultations are also available in our boutique in Basel.

Understanding bra sizes

A bra size consists of two parts:

  • the band size (for example 70, 75 or 80)
  • the cup size (for example AAA, AA or A)

The band size describes the circumference of the body directly under the bust.
The cup size results from the difference between bust measurement and underbust measurement.
Both values belong together. When the band size changes, the cup volume changes as well.
The measured size is therefore only a starting point. Breast shape, position and personal preference also influence the fit.

Determining the band size

Unterbrustumfang messen

First measure your underbust circumference.

  • Wear a well-fitting, lightly padded bra.
  • Stand upright in front of a mirror.
  • Place the measuring tape directly under the bust.
  • The tape should lie snug and horizontal around the body.
  • Measure while breathing normally.

If someone helps you measure, keep your arms relaxed.

Underbust measurement – Band size

Unterbust in cm Band size
63-67 65
68-72 70
73-77 75
78-82 80
83-87 85

The band size is given in 5 cm increments. The measured value is rounded to the nearest size.

Determining the cup size

Brustumfang messen

Next measure your bust circumference:

  • Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of the bust.
  • The tape should lie snug but comfortably.
  • Make sure it remains horizontal across the back.

The cup size results from the difference between bust and underbust measurements.

Difference in cm Cup
9 or less AAA
11 AA
13 A
15 B

Size table

You can use the size table to determine your band size and cup size based on your measurements.
However, the correct bra size cannot always be determined exactly using a table. Breast shape and position also play a role, and different styles may fit differently.

Unterbrust cm Band size AAA AA A
58-62 60 62-71 69-73 71-75
63-67 65 67-76 74-78 76-80
68-72 70 72-81 79-83 81-85
73-77 75 77-86 84-88 86-90
78-82 80 82-91 89-93 91-95
83-87 85 87-91 94-98 96-100

Fit Questions

It is normal for bras to feel different depending on the style. The following tips may help.

Space between breast and cup
The cup may be too large or the style may be too deep.
Try a smaller cup size or a style with shallower cups.

Underwires dig in
The underwires should fully surround the breast.
If they dig in, the cups are probably too small.

Cups fit but the band is too tight
Try a larger band size with a smaller cup.
For example 80AAA instead of 75AA.

Cups fit but the band is too loose
Try a tighter band with a larger cup.
For example 75AA instead of 80AAA.

My breasts are different sizes
This is completely normal. Choose the cup size according to the larger breast.
If the difference is noticeable, a small insert can be used on the smaller side.
